The Seven Myths of Love & Happiness™
I am not unique. I am a typical product of the era I grew up in. If you are anywhere near my age, you probably fought the same emotional battles I have of wanting to feel worthy of being loved, belonging, and experiencing prolonged happiness, safety and fulfillment.
Some will tell you that this is fanciful thinking, but as you will come to see in this book, the fantasies and myths we were fed as children and later sold under different packaging as adults, are what convinced us that sustained happiness and fulfillment is a myth and not a reality we can create.
Worse yet, if you are the child or grandchild of someone my age; guess what? You likely inherited many of the same rules and myths, which only added to your confusion about who you really are and what your place in the world is.
There’s more than one reason for this. In fact, there are seven to be precise. And they are known as The Seven Myths of Love & Happiness™.
The Seven Myths of Love & Happiness
1.Myth of Scarcity
2.Myth of Self-Worth
3.Myth of Love
4.Myth of Prince Charming
5.Myth of Aging
6.Myth of Physical Beauty
7.Myth of Shame and Blame
The Seven Myths of Love & Happiness are smoke and mirrors producing a manufactured storyline for how life is supposed to be lived. They trick you into seeing solutions for love and happiness that are dangerous, while blinding you to the real dangers of the myths themselves.
This includes unknowingly protecting the lies and beliefs that make up the myths. Protecting them is born out of a fear that by breaking free of the myths it will cause more harm than the suffering they are already producing.
The dark and unsavory elements of the seven myths feed into the dark and unsavory thoughts we have about ourselves and others. Facing this is a large part of healing. For ignoring the seven myths, especially after you become aware of them, will intensify the weight of your emotional baggage.
But being aware of The Seven Myths of Love & Happiness carries a responsibility to forgive the errors of the past; yours and everyone else’s. This responsibility is why many people find it difficult to look at the true nature of these myths.
